From the top of the mounting flange of the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15704 to the top of the crosstube measures 6.65" as you can see in the included diagram.

The Class V hitch we have for your 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with the best ground clearance is the Curt hitch part #C15809. It doesn't tuck right under the rear bumper like what you can see in the attached picture but it does sit the highest.
