Can I Use the RedArc Tow Pro Elite in a 2010 Chevy Silverado Without Factory Towing Package
Question:
This is a 2010 Chevy Silverado LT. How do I tell if my pick-up already has a towing package installed?

The easiest way to know if your 2010 Chevy Silverado LT had the towing package factory installed would be with a VIN decoder, which is typically available from the manufacturer; your Silverado will have a 7 way trailer connector present if this is the case. In some cases there are relays installed that activate the towing circuits that would let you know, but this is not the case on the 2010 Chevy Silverado
It looks like you were looking at the RedArc Tow Pro Elite # RED44FR and typically brake controllers are fit guided because of the plug and play adapters that are often available. Unfortunately on your 2010 Chevy Silverado LT there is not a plug under the dash that would allow you to use an adapter so regardless of whether your 7 way is factory installed or not, any brake controller must be hard wired.
With all of that said, the RedArc Tow Pro Elite # RED44FR is a great choice for a brake controller for your 2010 Silverado LT and can be used regardless of whether or not your truck has the factory towing package.
