Parts Needed To Install Curt Triflex Trailer Brake Controller C24VV In 2021 Ford Ranger
Question:
This is a little off topic from this Redarc brake controller but somewhat similar. I see that the Redarc has a separate adjustment knob that you mount wherever desired. The knob then plugs into the control box and the Ranger factory wiring gets spliced into a 4-wire pigtail that then plugs into the controller to complete the installation. I have a new 2021 Ford Ranger and I have a new Curt Triflex part number 51140 brake controller. This brake controller has its adjustment knob built in as well as having the control box all in one unit instead of being separate like the Redarc set up. Can I simply buy the Curt 51515 wiring harness and attach the correct Ford factory wires to the correct harness wires Yellow with orange stripe factory wire to the black harness wire / blue factory wire to the blue harness wire / white factory wire to the white harness wire / violet with white stripe factory wire to the red harness wire, plug it into the correctly mounted controller and be on my way and good to go? It seems like it should be this easy.. Is there anything I am missing or unaware of to use the method Ive laid out?

You can absolutely use the Universal Wiring Adapter # C51515 to install the Curt Triflex Trailer Brake Controller # C24VV in your new 2021 Ford Ranger. This harness will plug into the controller plug and the wires on the other end will get spliced into the factory wires under the dash of your truck. This will allow you to quickly unhook the controller if needed.
In regards to the correct wiring connections, we have not had a chance to install a trailer brake controller in a 2021 Ford Ranger yet and I was unable to find any information from Ford going over the functions of the 4 wires. You will need to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the functions of each wire and then connect them to the corresponding wire on the controller harness. The controller harness functions are as follows:
White wire is the ground wire.
Blue wire is the brake output wire.
Red wire is the brake signal wire that only has 12v when brake pedal is pressed.
Black wire is the power wire that has constant 12v.
Now if you would rather go with the Redarc # RED44FR you would not be able to use the # C51515 as it is designed specifically for the Curt controllers, and its plug would not plug in to the Redarc controller. You would need to hardwire it directly to the factory wires on your truck.
I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
