Wiring Tekonsha P3 Trailer Brake Controller To a 2017 GMC Savana Van With Factory Harness
Question:
I want to install a Tekonsha P3 on a 2017 GMC Savana Conversion Van. The van already has the optional heavy duty trailer wiring package installed. This package has 4 wires taped up under the the driver side instrument panel near the floor. The colors are black, red/white, dark blue, light blue/white. I already have a trailer hitch, 7 pin connector, and 4 pin connector installed at the rear of the vehicle. Trailer lights are all working correctly. My question: What wiring do I need to finish hooking up a P3 so I have trailer brakes? Do I just hook the 4 individual wires that are taped up under the dash to the 4 wires that are on the wiring harness that comes with the P3? Or is there more wiring required to get this accomplished? All of the videos I have seen so far show how to do complete wiring from back to front. I believe I already have that installed with the optional wiring package on the vehicle.

I was able to find you a video we have of a similar installation performed on a 2015 Chevrolet Express. I have included the link below.
The wiring will be as follows for your 2017 GMC Savana Van with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195. You will use the included wiring pigtail for the connections, no additional harness is required.

Black van wire to white wire on Tekonsha harness
Light blue/white van wire to red wire on Tekonsha harness
Dark blue van wire to blue wire on Tekonsha harness
