Can 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 Double Cab 5.3L Tow Coleman Lantern 295QBS Travel Trailer
Question:
I have a 2015 GMC Sierra base double cab 4x4 with the 5.3 v8 and 3.42 gears. I have gotten 3 different weights I can pull from different dealers and just wanted to make sure I didn’t go over weight. I’m looking at a Coleman latern 295qbs, which has a dry weight of 6360, will my truck pull this camper?

According to the 2015 Trailering Guide produced by GMC, a 2015 Chevy Sierra 1500 Double Cab 4x4 with the 5.3L engine and 3.42 gears can tow 9200 lbs, or 11000 lbs if its equipped with the Max Trailering Package. I'm assuming you have the 1500 series because the 5.3L engine is only offered in the 1/2 ton truck.
If you're unsure whether your truck is equipped with that package, call your local GMC or Chevy dealer with the VIN, and they should be able to confirm how the truck was equipped.
Long story short, your truck should have no problem with a camper of that size.
If you don't have a brake controller installed, I'd recommend a proportional controller like the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160. You'll also need a brake controller wiring harness, part # 3016. The harness plugs into the junction box behind the e-brake pedal, as shown in the linked video. I'll also link to a video showing how the controller works.
I'd also consider a transmission cooler, especially if you'll be towing in hilly or mountainous areas. I'd recommend the Derale # D13504 which would best be installed directly behind the grille for maximum cooling. I'll link to a video showing a typical install and some help articles with more info about transmission coolers.
