How To Choose New Weight Distribution System Shank for Lifted Truck
Question:
Good afternoon I just switched trucks and wondering what kind of hitch I need. I currently have a equalizer weight distribution hitch to tow my 6000lb trailer. I switched from a tundra with a 3in lift to a tundra with a 6in lift and 22in tires any advice? Thanks again

In order to choose a new weight distribution system shank you need to measure your rise/drop requirements just as you would when selecting a ball mount. This measurement is from the ground to the bottom of the coupler lip on the trailer while level and then from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube on the vehicle. The difference will give you the correct rise/drop.
The Reese Weight Dist Shank part # RP3344 for example offers up to a 7-5/8" drop. I have attached a full list of options below. The brand will not matter, the face of the shank just needs to be flat.
