Recommendation for Electric Bike Rack for 2-Inch Receiver on 42-Foot Fleetwood Discovery RV

Question:

We have a 42 foot RV Fleetwood 42m Discovery It has a 2 Inch Class 5 Receiver and we would like to carry 1 Electric bike that weighs 60 lbs and one or 2 standard bikes. My question is are any Bike racks designed to only accommodate a 2 in receiver ? Id be more comfortable with something that could hold up to 300 lbs Many of the Videos on your site show construction with a 1 and 1/4 piece of metal with a plastic sleeve to fill out the 2 inch receiver. Looking for your recommendations.

After speaking to my contact at Hollywood Racks, I have found the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Carrier for Electric Bikes # HLY84FR is the best rack we carry to fit your needs. It is intended for 2-inch trailer hitches only and features a bolstered steel construction that can handle the extra weight of electric bicycles.

My source informed me the only potential issue would occur if the rear of your RV tends to bounce or shake a lot while traveling. If this is the case, you will need to use a security strap to secure the bikes to the rear of the RV to prevent any jostling.

While it does not have an overall weight capacity of 300 lbs, it can carry 2 bikes that weight up to 80 lbs each, which should be more than enough for your 60-lb electric bike and another standard bike.

This rack has adjustable wheel mounts that will accept a variety of wheel sizes and wheelbases with a maximum of 58 inches for wheelbase and 5 inches for wheel width.

For additional convenience, this rack will tilt away from your vehicle with the bikes still attached to allow access to any rear compartments or cargo areas and folds up against your vehicle when not in use. I have provided a graphic showing this feature. It also has an anti-rattle handle that reduces the movement of the rack in the hitch receiver to cut down on noise.

I have provided a link to the installation video for this rack as well as a link to our FAQ page on bike racks, carriers, and accessories.
