Replacement Lid Lifter for Thule Mountaineer Cargo Box
Question:
Will the lid lifter replacement part for the Thule Motion fit my older Thule Mountaineer roof box? The lid lifter Im looking at is Item # 1401495600, the URL for your listing is: 1401495600. I have an old, faithful Thule Mountaineer roof box. One of the two lid lifters, plastic hinge style with internal spring, snapped, making the box inconvenient to open. Ive asked Thule for a replacement part, but they were unhelpful and sent my to a listing for mounting hardware instead of lid lifters. In cruising your site, I found the lid lifter to the Motion XT. It looks almost identical to the remaining unbroken lid lifter I have on my much older Mountaineer, and Im hoping theyre interchangeable. Do you know if it is so? Ive attached pictures of my Mountaineer, its model tag, its remaining lid lifter, and the mounting points where the older lifter was. If you arent sure, would I be able to order the item then return it if it doesnt fit?

For your Thule Mountaineer Cargo Box, the replacement hinge you will want is the Thule Replacement Dual Force Strut for Thule Roof Box # TH14936.
I spoke with my contact at Thule and she confirmed that this is the compatible replacement lid lifter for your Mountaineer cargo box. There are not different hinges for each side of your cargo box. You will want to use # TH14936 for either side of the box.
