Correct Wiring Harness to Install Redarc RED44FR Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller on 1999 Ford F-250
Question:
I ordered a brake controller which came with a factory plugin harness TPH-006 (RED87FR). When I went to plug into my Ford I noticed that the factory plug on the truck has 5 pins and the harness only has 4 pins. Is this a problem and do I have the right harness?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Redarc TPH-006 which we offer as part # RED87FR is the correct brake controller wiring harness for your 1999 Ford F250.
The factory plug does provide 5 circuits, with the extra circuit being for an illumination circuit. The brake controller already gets the voltage needed for illumination, and doesn't need the 5th circuit, so the
# RED87FR harness doesn't provide it.
