Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution For a 2015 Coachmen Apex 25 Foot Travel Trailer
Question:
My vehicle is a 2015 Chevy 1500 Silverado. The trailer is a 2015 Coachman Apex 25 foot. I have decided I want something other than the friction sway control I got with my used trailer. I am looking at the Reese # 66073. I believe my tongue weight is 650 lbs. my gross trailer weight is 6500 lbs. I don’t want to overbuy but I want a good quality hitch. The setup I got with the used Coachman was never specifically fitted for my truck but the friction sway control was just a hassle, especially with backing up. Any recommendations you could make would be appreciated.

The Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # RP66073 is a great system for your 2015 Coachmen Apex being pulled with your 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. It provides additional support while turning to to help you through corners. You will not have to remove the sway control when on tight curvy roads or while backing up. It is rated for trailers with 400-800lbs of tongue weight and a maximum trailer weight of up to 8,000lbs. This system will require you to reuse the drop shank that you currently have as well as the 2-5/16" ball.
You can also get it as the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # RP66083 that includes a shank. This is the same weight rating as the other system. The 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # 19286 will allow you to sell your old friction sway control to recoup the extra money that you spent for the additional parts.
