Trailer Brake Controller For A 2021 Ford Ranger For U-Haul Trailer
Question:
Hi I have a 2021 Ford Ranger and it does not have a built in trailer brake controller. I don’t tow very often and saw this plug and play option here. Seems simple enough- does it work well and what about when I’m pulling a uhaul trailer which has a different connection- also how does it do in weather or do you have another recommendation Thanks

U-Haul uses "Surge Brakes" on most of their trailers. The way they work is it takes the force put on your trailer tongue when stopping to activate the brakes. If you're using a U-Haul car hauler, they may have electric brakes which if they do, it will be a standard 7 pole. If you are using a car hauler, the Curt Echo is the way to go. I have not had any issues with the Curt Echo # C51180 in the rain. The connection is just as good as a normal 7 pole connection if you had a hard wired brake controller and 7 pole connection. If you're just using one of their standard trailers, a brake controller won't be necessary.
