Carrying A Hitch Bike Rack With A Reducer Sleeve
Question:
I have a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD with a 2.5 inch receiver opening with a reducer sleeve that takes the hitch opening down to 2 inches. Is the pin of the Thule T2 Pro XTR bike rack long enough to go through into the reducer sleeve so that when tightening the knob on the bike rack it will secure the reducer sleeve inside the main 2.5 receiver opening, thus preventing the reducer sleeve along with the rack itselve from sliding out of the 2.5 inch receiver opening ? Thank you.

The Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount, part # TH69TX, is not compatible with 2 1/2" hitch receivers. The pin is not long enough to secure the bike rack via the hitch receiver and the reducer. In fact, Thule does not make a platform rack that will work for that setup. I do have a rack that will work with that setup.
The Kuat NV 2.0 Base Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount - Matte Black, part # BA22B-BA02B, uses a traditional hitch pin to secure the rack to the vehicle. It has a separate anti-rattle device that eliminates the movement between the hitch receiver and the bike hitch rack. This rack has a tilt-down mast, activated by a foot pedal, that can be used when the rack is empty or carrying bikes. Ensuring you access to the rear of your vehicle at all times. The bikes are held by the wheels, ensuring that there is no damage to the frame. Last, the bikes can be locked to the bike rack.
I have included a product description link and a video review link below.
