Does a 2004 Ford F-550 Have a Factory Brake Controller?
Question:
I just bought a 2004 Ford 550 with 6.0 engine. Do you know if the trailer brake controller is hard wired into the truck rather than an external one people put on afterwards? Thank you.

You might have a brake controller in your 2004 Ford F-550 but Ford did not start having the option of factory installed brake controllers in their trucks until the 2005 model year. A previous owner of your 2004 Ford F-550 would have had to installed an aftermarket brake controller.
If you're looking for a replacement I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller item # 90885.
