Can these hitches be used to position a cargo trailer or a boat. All the presentations talk about accessories such as a removable winch etc.

The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31083 you were looking at for your 2018 Ford F-150 can absolutely be used to manuver your cargo or boat trailer.
The only thing you will need to be careful of is that you cannot exceed the 500lb vertical load rating (tongue weight) or 9000lb line pull rating (trailer weight) of the # C31083.
