Options for Flat Tow 1997 Jeep TJ with D rings

We can get you set with recommendations, the first being to ensure that your Jeep TJ has a front bumper that is actually rated for towing with the D-Rings. If it is, you have the option of using the Adapter for Jeep D-Ring Bumper Mounts to Roadmaster Tow Bars, # RM-035 for 3/4" thick and # RM-035-1 for 1" thick. There are several tow-bar options that would work for you, the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar, # RM-522 being a good option. I suggest any tow-bar you go with should have the non-binding feature. This tow-bar will match up to the adapters for D-Ring's and has cable guides that protect wires and safety cables from getting damaged or tangled. Another feature I like of this tow-bar and why I suggest it is the self-aligning design feature, you just hook up and drive RV forward.

You will also need safety cables, I suggest the RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables, # RM-643. and for wiring, the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit, # RM-15267. This lets makes wiring connection to your Jeep from the RV and allows your indicator lights on the towed vehicle to match the signals from your RV.

For suplemental braking that is required by law, I suggest the Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System, # SM99251. With this you get automatic, proportional braking from a system that never has to be removed, replaced, or reset. The DUO activates when your RV's brake lights go on and an inertia sensor in the towed car detects deceleration.
