Recommended Bike Rack for an Electric Bike With Fenders
Question:
I’m trying to find a one or two place bike rack for ebike. One bike has front and back fenders and the other one does not. I’m planning on getting a class ll 1.25” hitch installed on my 2016 Chevy Malibu. I was hoping to not spend more than $500 on the bike rack alone. It should be a platform rack as well seeing that I’m 70 and would not want to lift an ebike very high. Thanks for any help you can provide.

We are pretty limited on on platform bike racks rated to be used with electric bikes and a 1 1/4 inch hitch. That being said, we do have the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 that is designed for a 1 1/4 hitch, electric bikes, and will not clamp down on the wheels. I mention that as racks that clamp to the wheels do not work with bikes that have fenders. One of the great features of this rack is the included ramp that stores in the rack. This allows for easy loading of your bikes.
If you do not already have a hitch in mind, I suggest the Draw-Tite # 36652. This is rated up to 350 pounds of tongue weight and will be much less visible once installed. I included a couple videos for you to check out as well.
