Troubleshooting Draw-Tite Activator Always Locking Trailer Brakes.
Question:
I have used this on 2 dump trailers and my 5th wheel- when I apply the brakes it takes a few seconds but the brakes on trailer either lock up or grad tightly tighter then truck. I have a 1995 F350 Dually with an older Draw-Tite 6300 goose neck awesome! with a Draw-Tite activator. The sync on the side I have tried in full + or - positions with the front slide moved all around and nothing changes. Please advise.

I would be happy to help! It sounds like you have been adjusting the output control on the front of your Draw-Tite Activator Trailer Brake Controller 5100 but have not yet adjusted the sync control.
The sync control is located on the left rear of the controller and controls how aggressive the brakes are applied on the trailer. Moving the sync knob towards the front of your truck will cause more aggressive braking, and moving it towards the rear of the truck will cause softer braking.
I recommend adjusting the sync a bit softer and taking the truck and trailer to an empty parking lot to do some brake testing. If your adjustment made the braking too soft then just move the sync back towards of the front of the vehicle and test again.
