how to wire up tekonsha voyager proportional brake control to my 2004 dodge 1500 truck

Expert Reply:
To wire in the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller # 39510 you will first need to determine if your 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 has any factory trailer wiring provision.
If you do not have any factory trailer wiring you will need the Brake Control Plug-In Harness # 20127. This pigtail will need to be hardwired into your Ram with a Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 and a Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C55504.
If your Ram has the factory 4-way you will need the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3020-P and the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. There is a blue connector for the wiring adapter near the brake pedal on your Ram that the brake controller will plug into. The Universal wiring kit will allow you to convert your 4-way to the 7-way needed for a brake controller.
For Ram's with a factory 7-way you will only need a Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3020-P.
I have included videos linked below of all 3 types of installations performed on similar Ram's for you to see the installation process.
