You should have received M12 x 1.25 x 40mm bolts with the Draw-Tite # 75952 Class III hitch.

I've been here almost 15 years, and I can state with confidence that it's extremely rare for the wrong hardware to get sent out with a hitch.

There's a much more common occurrence that is most likely causing the difficulty you're having. The installation bolts included with the hitch are designed to fit into the M12 x 1.25 nuts that are welded into the frame members of your 2017 Murano. If you live in an area where ice melting chemicals are used on the roads during the winter, corrosion can built up in the threads of those fasteners preventing you from getting the bolts started. If you aren't in the rust belt, it's also possible that plain old road grime and grit have gotten up in there and preventing the bolt from threading in.

Your local auto parts store should have a bolt diameter gauge, which is a small plastic piece with holes of various diameters. You can use this to ensure you have M12 bolts.

To clean the threads of the fasteners welded into the frame, spray a generous amount of spray lubricant like WD-40 up into the threads. Use a wire brush like what's provided on a battery terminal cleaner like
# DW00254 and give the threads a good scrubbing. You might need to do this a couple of times. This should do a good job of cleaning the threads and will allow you to start the bolts.

I've linked to an installation video that you might find helpful.
