Does Tekonsha Primus Brake Controller Need Vehicle Movement to Apply Trailer Brakes
Question:
I have a Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller and I am not getting the breaking I like. I am checking the voltage and it is not consistant when I step on the breaks the voltage can be anything from 0 - 12. When I push the slider it is alway 12. Does the vehicle need to be moving for it to work with the break pedal?

The Tekonsha Primus IQ part # TK90160 is a proportional brake controller that will require inertia changes for the braking pressure to be seen. So using the brake pedal and a circuit tester would yield you unpredictable results. What specifically is the braking performance you aren't liking? When you slide the manual override does that allow the brakes to feel strong?
