Will Aftermarket Brake Controller Function with Error Codes from OEM Controller Being Displayed
Question:
After I install the Reese brakeman IV in my 2006 f350, if the dealership does not reprogram for me and the TBC fault code keeps reading out, will the unit work, and I just have to deal with the code in my dash, or will it nullify the controller until I have it programmed?

It sounds as if your truck originally had the OEM brake controller, which you're wanting to replace with an aftermarket controller. The code you're getting is being displayed because the truck is looking for, and not finding the OEM controller.
According to Tekonsha, the manufacturer of your Reese Brakeman IV, the controller will still function properly even with the code being displayed on the dash. I've linked to a video showing how the # 5504 Activator IV works (which is the Draw-Tite version of the same controller.
