Replacement Air Conditoner With Thermostat
Question:
I’m looking to replace my aging duo therm with this unit and would also like to upgrade my thermostat as well to a digital one if possible. Also is the led light cover work with my ducted ac system?

Air Conditioners can be divided into two systems. The first is the rooftop unit that does all the work. The second is the inside air distribution which can be a simple air box or a ducted system. There will also be controls on the air box or you could have a thermostat system. These controls turn the roof top unit off and on based on control or thermostat settings.
The Furrion # FR42PV that you referred to is a rooftop only unit. This particular unit will directly replace a Dometic/DouTherm unit. The rooftop units are rated for cooling with BTU's ranging from 13,500 to 15,000. The higher the BTU number the greater the cooling power - but also the greater the energy needed to work. Most users replace old units with like rated BTUs.
I think the best choice for you is the Furrion # FR55PV, complete system with 15,000 BTUs of cooling power and will work with ducted systems. This will replace your rooftop A/C and include a new ceiling air box with controls and a new digital thermostat. Also includes a start capacitor which is important when using a generator, or limited shore power.
