Roof Rack For Rooftop Tent On A Honda CRV 2021 Hybrid
Question:
I want to mount a regular Roofnest Falcon on my new Honda - 150 lb weight capacity. I could have rails installed on the car. Would that be an easier, safer, and better way to install a rack? And which crossbars would be best to use with the rails? I did see your advice about a naked CRV Yakima rack system. THANKS!

The safest rack system you can put on your vehicle is the highest rated components. I would suggest getting the Yakima HD bars # Y01156 because they have a capacity of 500 lbs. The Baseline towers # Y28TR have a capacity of 220 lbs. You'll need the adapter # Y03541 and BaseClip # Y06188 # Y06189.
This is what you need for your 2021 Honda CRV. I always tell people that when you're planning on putting a tent up on your roof make sure you get a heavy duty system. The bars will be plenty strong, and the baseline towers give you more capacity than your typical roof rack mount. You are only as good as your weakest link so now you have a Dynamic roof capacity of 220 lbs. Dynamic capacity is the weight in motion, but your static weight (not in motion) will be higher to support your rooftop tent # TH8001ASK05.
Be sure to check your owners manual or consult with your Honda dealer to make sure your roof can handle that kind of weight.
