In regard to the Thule Yepp Bike Luggage Rack for 28" Bike - Rear - 77 lbs - Black # TH12020946, the top portion of the tubing for luggage is 5/8" and the bottom portion is 1/2" in diameter. Just as another option, you can also get this rack in silver # TH12020947.
