Is B&W BWGNRK1394 Permanently Attached to Truck Bed of 1996 Dodge Ram

Question:

The gooseneck hitch in the 1996 Ram I bought recently looks just like this one of yours when viewed from above. I need to know if this hitch will allow me to tilt the bed up out of the way to weld crane supports to the truck frame or will the hitch need to be detached or removed in order to tilt the bed up? The hitch has a release rod running to the rear driver-side wheel well for allowing the hitch ball to be turned over. Thanks in advance for your help. Photo attached.

If you compare the provided side by side photo of the B&W # BWGNRK1394 Turnover Ball gooseneck hitch, which is a fit for the 1996 Dodge Ram to the photo you kindly provided, I'd call that a match. The square ball, the positioning of the safety chain loops and even the finger hook bar in the recess of the gooseneck ball all match. The round housing surrounding the ball isn't attached to the bed, but the safety chain loops are bolted to the hitch center assembly with the bed sandwiched in between the safety chain U-bolts and the center section, so you'll need to remove the 4 bolts holding the safety chain U-bolts in place from underneath before lifting the truck bed.
