Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller Installed on 2020 Ford Edge Tripping Circuit Breaker
Question:
Good day, Tested the installation without a trailer connected. If I press the break pedal and activate the manual break override, every works fine and the voltage goes up to the set level. But if I do not have the break pedal pressed, activating the manual override lever trips the 20amp breaker. I verified everything and can’t find a short. Any ideas as to were to look? Thank you

I ran the scenario you're contending with past my friend in Tech Services at Tekonsha. It sounds as if the brake controller might have been installed incorrectly. The red wire from the brake controller should have been tapped into a purple wire with a white stripe on it. This wire can be found at the brake switch located at the top of the brake pedal. You can see this at the 18:15 minute mark in the linked video.
