Location of Brake Controller Installation Port on 1999 Dodge Durango
Question:
It is my guess that Dodge included a pigtail for trailer wiring on all its Durango vehicles. My question is where on the vehicle would I find it? I have a factory hitch.

If your Durango left the factory with the Tow Package, it will certainly have the port for installing a brake controller. To install a Tekonsha brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885, you'd need a brake controller wiring adapter, part # 3020-P. If your brake controller has the red, blue, white and wires exiting the rear, you can simply cut the black plug off the 3020-P and wire it to the controller color for color. The connector is located behind the emergency brake pedal. There should be a white rectangular box on the firewall, and the blue connector for the brake controller should be next to or on top of the white box. I've linked you to an install video showing a brake controller install on a 2003 Dakota. The procedure on your Durango would be similar.
If your Durango was not equipped with the tow package, you'll need to hardwire the controller using our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7. The install kit includes an adapter to convert an existing 4-pole into a 7-way trailer connector. If your Durango doesn't have the 4-pole, you can install one using part # 118334.
