Question:
I have a activator 2. All it shows is a red dot. Does this mean the controller is broken. Thanks

Since the Draw-Tite Activator IV Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Time Delayed 5504 in your vehicle is only showing a dot on the screen that means that it is not detecting that a trailer is connected.
I recommend checking the connectors on both your vehicle and trailer for any corrosion or debris that could be causing the trailer to not be detected.
If the connectors look good you will need to trace the brake output wire from the 7-way connector back to each brake assembly looking for any damage. If you find a damaged section you will need to replace it with # 10-1-1 and heat shrink butt connectors # DW05745-5.
I included a video review of the # 5504
