5th Wheel Installation Kit for a 2010 Ford F-250 and Valley Husky 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch

Question:

We have a 2010 Ford F-250 8-foot bed pickup. Out truck has a spray-in bed coating but is not a -in bed. We bought a Valley 7054 Husky 5th wheel with two rails for in the bed. We need the under-bed brackets, bolts and misc. gear. We find two kits available: Kit 31408 two long brackets with mounting holes at either end Kit 31412 four L-shaped brackets with bolt holes. Which kit is the correct one to use? Where can we get a detailed instruction manual for this installation?

The Husky hitches that were under the Valley umbrella are not the same as the current Husky brand like for installation kit # HT31412-686 that you have referenced. We do not recommend mixing brackets from one company with rails from another because they have not been tested together and the capacity will be unknown.

The best and safest thing to do would be to get a complete kit with parts all from the same manufacturer. I recommend the Curt custom installation kit # C16448-104. It is the most cost effective custom kit for your truck. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view.

The other option if you wanted to save even more money would be to use the universal installation kit # RP30035. It does take longer to install and requires more drilling. I have linked instructions for this kit as well.

The spray-in bed liner will not be a problem. You can install the above the bed rails with this type of bed liner.
