How To Adjust Braking Power With Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller 39510
Question:
I bought a 2006 F-150 from a previous owner that already had the Tekonsha Voyager Electronic Brake Controller installed in it. I watched the tekonsha website video how to set it up with my travel trailer and followed all instructions. Whenever I adjust the left wheel, it doesnt matter whether I have it turned all the way clockwise or counter-clockwise or in the middle, my trailer instantly goes to the full power of whatever I have the right wheel adjusted too. It doesnt matter if I barely tap the break pedal, the trailer always goes to the max of whatever that right wheel is adjusted too. The light doesnt gradually go from green to orange either, it instantly goes orange. Do I need a new brake controller, or is it another issue? Any other thoughts?

The right wheel on the Tekonsha Voyager # 39510 you have in your 2006 F-150 is what controls the power sent to the brakes on your trailer, so you will need to hook up to your trailer and go to a parking lot and at around 25 MPH apply the brakes in your truck to see how much braking power is being sent. If the brakes on the trailer are locking the wheels up you need to reduce the gain by rotating the right wheel, and if the trailer does not feel like it is getting enough power to the brakes you need to increase the gain by rotating the right wheel.
The left wheel on the # 39510 is for adjusting the inertia sensor. To adjust this correct you need the gain turned all the way up, and with the brake pedal pressed adjust the left wheel until you get a orange hue on the LED. This will level the inertia sensor.
I included a video of the # 39510 for you to take a look at.
