Tires and Wheels for a 1995 Nitro F/S Boat Trailer

Question:

Hello I have receltly left my boat trailer in a local dry dock and the wheels and tires were stolen off of it. Through my insurance they are going to replace them but I need to know the exact size. Again its a 95 Nitro F/S with two wheels on the trailer. Thanks

Not knowing the original tire size will make this a bit more challenging, but it can be done.

If you can provide more information about your trailer, it would make choosing the correct wheel/tire combo easier.

The following would be very helpful-

The bolt pattern of your hubs (see FAQ article)
The axle or trailer capacity (should be listed on a plate or sticker somewhere on the trailer)
Center of spindle to inside of fender measurement

My hope was that with the serial # or VIN from the trailer, Nitro would be able to help with the correct tire/wheel size, but after phoning them I found that they have no existing records of anything older than a 2000 model trailer. I was told that most likely your trailer originally had a ST205/75-14 tire on it. For a 3500 lb axle (which is typical), you would want to go with a load range C tire, whose capacity would match up with the axle capacity. If the spindle center to inside of fender measurement is no less than 16-1/2 inches, then the 14 inch wheel would be ideal. Your existing hubs most likely have a 5-on-4-1/2 inch bolt pattern.

If all this checks out, I have linked you to our selection of wheel/tire combos that should be the correct size tire and wheel for your boat trailer. I would recommend going with a radial tire over a bias-ply due to the fact that a radial tire will usually run cooler, contributing to longer tread life.
