Can the Yakima FrontLoader Handle a Wheelbase Over 48
Question:
Hello, I have a 2021 Commencal Meta TR with a 48.4inch wheelbase. I want to go with a roof-based system, but most racks seem to top out at 48. I really like the Front Loader from Yakima, but would the .4inch be maxing out the security of the back strap? Any other suggestions?

I spoke with Yakima to confirm this for you.
Though your wheelbase is only .4 inches more than the FrontLoader, part # Y02103, allows, Yakima cannot recommend using it.
You could use the ForkChop, part # Y02117, instead. It's a fork-mount with a maximum crossbar spread 50". The only wheelbase requirement is that it is within 10" of that spread. Your 48.4" meets that requirement.
I've linked to a video review of the ForkChop below.
