According to my contact at Curt, using a brake controller such as the # C51180 Echo Wireless Brake Controller won't have any effect on the OEM Ford Sway Control system. As long as your Explorer has a functional 7-way trailer connector, the Curt Echo will work great for you.
I'll link to a video that will walk you through how the Echo works.
