Does this have to installed upside down for the 8 inch rise?

There is a correction for the Gen-Y Glyder Shock Absorbing Ball Mount # 325-GH-12005. It is only capable of being mounted in the drop position.

To get the rise you are looking for in a shock absorbing style hitch I recommend the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount # AMSC10. This allows for 8-3/4"" or rise and 10" drop.

Yes, we still offer the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount #AMSC10 that you referenced. The ball hole diameter is 1 inch. For a 2 inch ball you'd want the part #40038 or for a 2-5/16 inch ball you'd want part #C40007.

Your tongue weight would be a little light for the Gen-Y Glyder Shock Absorbing Ball Mount for 2" Hitches #325-GH-12005 but it is still going to make a large enough difference for ride quality.
