Can Brake Controllers Be Moved To Another Vehilcle
Question:
Can you move a brake controller to another vehicle

Expert Reply:
Absolutely. Brake controllers aren't vehicle specific, they can be installed on just about any vehicle. Many vehicles such as full sized trucks and SUV's will have a connector under the dash that makes the installation very simple, using a brake controller wiring harness adapter, as long as the vehicle was equipped with the factory tow package which usually includes a 7-way trailer connector at the rear bumper.
If the vehicle wasn't equipped with the factory tow package, you can do a hardwire install of the brake controller using our # ETBC7 brake controller install kit. I'll link to a video explaining how the kit works. If you have a Tekonsha brake controller like the # 90885 P2 you'd looked at, you'll need the # 7894 pigtail unless you still have it.
If you'd care to reply with the year, make and model of the vehicle an the model of brake controller you have, and let me know if if has the factory tow package I'd be happy to recommend the parts needed to install the controller in the other vehicle.
