Troubleshooting Lipperty Hydraulic Leveling System Where Jack Won't Retract- Only Extends

Question:

We have a 2008 Damon Challenger Class A RV. The front ds Lippert hydraulic leveling jack had to be rebuilt. It was reinstalled and The lines were tagged and replaced as before removal. Once reinstalled, the opposite front ps jack does not retract. Instead of retracting it extends to the max. I had a rv repair tech check it out. He said there is nothing wrong with the control panel and the jack is receiving the signal. He suggested the cylinder had been rebuilt backwards. Is this possible. I am at a loss as I have tried everything I can think of.

It's definitely possible that this has occurred during your re-build but it's more likely that whoever re-installed the unit got the plumbing for the hydraulic system mixed up. You'll want to make sure that the black hose is connected to the extend feed and the orange hose is connected to the retract feed-this is the opposite of what would be on a 5th wheel trailer with a similar hydraulic system, so that might be where the error lies. If both hoses are black then you would need to follow the hoses back on the system to make sure they're connected to the right hose on the pump.

You can also open the valve on the jack and see if that allows the leg to retract. If none of these seems to be true, then it's likely that the jack is either damaged beyond repair or that it was rebuilt improperly.
