B&W Patriot Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch & Standard Width Trailers

Question:

Hello, Im interested in this hitch for my 2021 Silverado 2500. I already have the rails installed and will be replacing a curt a16 slider. My question is on your is this right for you segment, expert Alexander C says no if you tow a very wide trailer and don't have an extended pin box. Can you explain in further detail what this means? I currently tow a Cedar Creek 34rlk which I assume is standard width. It does have the new Rhino pin box which is definitely not extended however has not been an issue with the Curt. Thanks

That's a good question, so I reached out to my colleague about towing a very wide trailer with the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider # BWRVK3270.

They said this bullet point wasn't specific to the Patriot and was a way of saying that the best way to get added turning clearance with a very wide trailer is to use an extended pin box like a Sidewinder as opposed to a sliding hitch. That said, there isn't any issue using the Patriot # BWRVK3270 with your standard-width trailer; it does have the same 12 inches of sliding travel that your A16 slider has.

As for the hitch itself, the B&W Patriot is one of the best options for a 5th wheel hitch in the industry due to its robust 3/4 inch jaw system that clasps around your kingpin like a vice, giving you a much smoother, quieter ride than other hitches. The only other thing your 2021 Chevy Silverado might need if you don't have one is a 5th wheel wiring harness, the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness # HM54FR.

I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as well of the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider # BWRVK3270.
