Wanting To Carry Four Mountain Bikes On The Back Of A Jayco Jay Feather 21BHM
Question:
I have a Jayco Jay Feather 21BHM with an Sinch beam steel frame. I need to hold Yakima Hangover 4 and 4 mountain bikes. I attached a hitch adapter to the OEM bumper and discovered this wasnt a good idea before I had a catastrophic failure. I am looking for a hitch I can install to the frame that will hold the bike rack and 4 bikes, I am guesstimating altogether weigh at most, 120 lbs, but I know the distance of the weight and adding bobfoot up and down on the highway, it will be significantly more. Is part # C13702 appropriate for this application, do you have another recommendation? I am open to overbuildingfoot it...I have alot of money in bikes and dont want to lose them!

For your Jayco Jay Feather 21 BHM, Item # C13702 is exactly what you need. It is a universal hitch so the side plates can be adjusted to fit different width frame gaps. It can be welded or bolted on. You would just have to make sure your frame gap isn't more the 51".
If your frame gap is wider that 51" I recommend Item # C13704, which can fit frame gaps up to 68-1/2" wide.
Both hitches have a gross tongue weight of 500lbs so you should be good with carrying 4 mountain bikes.
That being said, Item # Y02484 is not compatible for hailing bikes on the back of a travel trailer.
Another option would be to use Item # S80600 which is designed for the back of travel trailers and have a weld shop add supports to your rear bumper so it will not twist under the weight.
