Installing 7-way Trailer Connector On Trailer Where Wire Colors Are Not Standard

I have 6 wires and a 7 way plug. Can’t get it wired right due to color coding

Since wire colors on trailers are not standardized you will want to wire the 7-way connector by function and not by wire color.
If your old connector is still attached, you will need to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 while the connector is plugged into your vehicle to test the functions.
If you have already removed the old connector you will need to track down where each wire goes, and for the wires going to the tail lights you can connect them to the positive terminal of a 12v battery while grounding the ground wire to see what functions light up and go from there.
I went ahead and included a diagram that shows each function of the pins on a 7-way connector, and a helpful article on wiring for you to take a look at.
