Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier Recommendation for a 2012 Ford Focus.

Need roof rack for 2012 Ford Focus to carry a kayak.

The roof rack that I recommend is the Yakima BasLine Tower roof rack that includes two 58 inch crossbars, # Y00409, the BaseClips, # Y06135 and # Y06105, the RoundBar Adapters # Y03536, and the BaseLine Towers, # Y28TR. This will provide you with two crossbars to mount your kayak or kayak carrier to.

You can mount your kayak directly to the crossbars, but to prevent scratching your kayak, I recommend using a kayak carrier like the Yakima JayLow J-Style Kayak Carrier, # Y04073. This carrier supports your kayak with rubber pads to prevent scratching and includes straps and bow and stern tie-downs to secure your kayak to your vehicle.
