Brake Controller is Tripping the Electronic Stability Control Light on a Chrysler Pacifica

Question:

After installing this brake controller on a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica I get this error on my dash when I manually slide the brake lever over. Sliding the leveler is the first step in setting up the controller to the vehicle. It also shows a yellow dash indicator of a vehicle and two squiggly lines under it. Turning the vehicle off will reset the error and it will not comeback till I manually apply the brake level on the controller again. My question is if you know how to fix this issue?

This can be caused by a few different things. If your 2017 Chrysler Pacific did not come pre-wired from the factory, it is most likely wired incorrectly. The red wire coming out of the controller should be connected to the stoplight switch and is most likely where the issue is. The way to test this would be to remove the red wire from the one it is spliced with and run the manual override again. If it does not trip the traction control light, which is what that light is, then you will just need to splice the red wire to the correct wire. I included an install video to our Universal Brake Controller Wiring kit # ETBC7 that should help with this process.

This can be found by pushing the brake pedal while testing the wires to see which one has current running through it. Make sure that wire has no current with any other function to verify it is the correct one. This is made easier with the Draw-Tite circuit tester # PTW2993.

If the Pacifica did come with a factory port for the Tekonsha # TK90160 to plug in with the # TK93VR adapter, then you will want to test the blue wire to make sure it has it has 12 volts running through it when the manual override is engaged. If there is no power going through the wire, the controller will most likely need to be replaced. If there is power going through the blue wire, you may need to contact a Chrysler dealer as something may not be wired properly.

If you have already tried rewiring to the stoplight switch and or your vehicle didn't come pre-wired from the factory, let me know and we can try a few more things to get you up and running.
