Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2011 Kia Sorento with Manual Transmission
Question:
Thanks for your answer. I ended up buying a 2015 Base Kia Soul with front wheel drive and a manual transmission. As my research tells me this vehicle can be flat towed. Can you recommend the equipment I would need to set this vehicle up as a toad and as well can you tell me if etrailer does installations or works with anyone who does these type of installations? Thank you.

Yes your 2011 Kia Sorento with a manual transmission can be flat towed. You'd need a base plate confirmed as a fit for your vehicle like with the Blue Ox part # BX2719.
Then for a tow bar the # BX7420 is very easy to connect/disconnect from and also allows the vehicle to track better behind the tow vehicle than other options.
Then for wiring/lighting the part # RM-152-98146-7 would work great as a way to control the taillights of the tow vehicle due to the diodes that install on the tow vehicle tailight wiring.
And finally, most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR, that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
Most likely you will also need a high low adapter so that the tow bar will be level when you are flat towing. I attached a link to a page that has all of the ones we carry.
I have included a couple of helpful links to our articles on flat towing for you. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for more specific information on flat towing your vehicle.
