Do I Need LED Resistors When Installing the Roadmaster Hy-Power Diode Kit on 2021 Chevy Equinox
Question:
In regards to the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit. I have a 2021 Chevrolet Premier Equinox and I am setting it up for flat towing. The tail lights just have one bulb in each tail light housing and the bulbs are unaccessible, so I dont know if it is an LED. The housing is held together with 5 point torx screws. Ive ordered a set to look inside the housing to see what kind of bulb it is. The socket to the bulb has 4 pins in it. Can you verify the wiring to the bulb? For example is one pin ground and the other three brake light, turn signal light, running light. Does this sound correct? Should I order resistors for this tail light light assembly? Thanks

You shouldn't need to add resistors to your vehicle when using the Roadmaster Hy-Power Diode Kit # RM-154, however if your 2021 Chevy Equinox is the L Series (L, LS and LT) your vehicle has variable voltage tail lights and you would instead want to use the Roadmaster Universal Wiring Kit with Smart Diodes for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights # RO44FR instead of the # RM-154.
Your assumptions on the wiring of the vehicle bulb is also correct assuming that it's a single bulb running all of the different functions- turn, brake, running. I don't know which wires are going to correspond to which though so you'll want to use a circuit tester like the # PTW2993 to determine which function is carried on each wire.
