12V+ Power On Trailer Side Connector When Disconnected From Vehicle
Question:
We just bought a used 5th wheel rv and the trailer plug that plugs into the truck receptical appears to have a constant 12v on one of the blades sitting unconnected to truck The plug has 6 light diodes, and the AX is lit all the time...I used my volt meter to confirm. Previous owners added solar panels, if that’s of any use.

So I believe one of a couple things has occurred. I would first check to see where they tied the solar panels controller into. This should have been tied directly into the battery itself. They may have connected it before the battery charge controller so that is causing the 12V power to flow in both directions back to the truck and into the camper.
Second the Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1225D (or similar) could be damaged internally causing power to flow both directions.
If you disconnect the solar and power stops its an issue with the solar charger routing. If you still have power after the solar is disconnected then you could have a damaged charger or they may have routed around it for something else. I have seen some run 12v power back to the plug so their running lights will power when disconnected and linking together the 2 circuits. Definitely dangerous doing this way as you have the hot circuit exposed.
