SumoSprings Rebel SSR-301-47-2 Appears Mis-Aligned When Installed on 2018 Ram 3500

Question:

I installed the rebel sumosprings on my 2018 ram 3500 4x4 and the springs are not lining up square and there is a gap between the halves. Just wondering if there is a special part that needs to be added to make the halves line up.

Actually, the installation you show in your photos is exactly how it's supposed to be. I checked in with one the engineering folks at SuperSprings who manufacture the # SSR-301-47-2 Rebel Sumo Springs you installed. I forwarded them your photo, and they replied stating that what's shown in your photo is typical of Ram one ton and leaf sprung ¾ ton installs. Rams design of angling forward their rear leaf stacks/ubolts determines the final look of this kit. Their reason for this angling is so that the OE bumpstop only moves into a more vertical alignment when loaded, this effect is what you see in this image. Our kit will visually/physically align as load is applied, this is why a little larger gap like seen here is preferred. Helps eliminate any early or unwanted unloaded engagement.

In other words, the SumoSpring is installed at that angle because it will straighten out once weight is applied to the rear suspension.
