Recommended Trailer Hitch for Carrying Bike Rack on 2020 Chevy Trax
Question:
Would like to purchase a trailer hitch, but not for the purpose of towing. Looking to purchase one to use with a bike carry bar. Would like to install a bike rack to the tow hitch. Is the hitch pretty much the same for either ?

The Curt Class I hitch that you'd looked at, part # C11527 can either be used for light duty towing or for carrying a hitch mounted accessory like a bike rack or a cargo carrying tray, so this hitch is exactly what you'd need to carry a bike rack.
The hitch uses a 1-1/4 inch receiver, so you'll want to choose a bike rack that's compatible with a Class I hitch.
The best rack for you will depend a lot on the type of bike, but a platform style rack like the Swagman
# S64670 XTC2 (which is our most popular bike rack among Chevy Trax owners) will carry 2 bikes weighing up to 35 lbs each with wheelbases up to 66 inches and tires up to 2-1/2 inches wide. The rack will accommodate most bike styles, but if you're wanting to carry a women's bike with a step through frame, you'll need an adapter bar like # 64005. The rack includes an anti-rattle hitch pin, but I'd recommend getting the optional # S64031 locking hitch pin/cable lock combo to help deter theft.
