Removable Winch For 2007 Chevrolet Suburban Overlander
Question:
Hi, I have a 2007 suburban 1500 that Im going to be slowly building up for an overland vehicle. My current project in RandD stage at the moment for the truck is a custom built front bumper with a reciver hitch built into it for a winch. As I dont want a permanent winch mount. I would like to mount the hitch directly in front of or slightly above the frame to maintain approach angle. One of my concerns is also the amount of weight the hitch can withstand. As of now, the suburban is about 8500 GVW. the minimum recommend capable which is 12,000 lbs. Assuming worse case, I would like to have a hitch that can withstand a 12k load. Is there anything you could recommend to start with?

The only option you have for the front of your 2007 Suburban is like this Curt front hitch # C31012. Since you have a custom built front bumper, you may want to get something like this universal weld on hitch # C47CR. This will have 16,000 GTW so it should be plenty strong. If you can make that work, you will be able to get the set up you're wanting.
You could then get this Bulldog Winch Receiver Mount Kit # BDW20155 with this 12K Winch # BDW10043.
We have a bunch of weld on hitches, winches and receiver mounts to pick from. These will all work but you may find some that will work better for your situation. Just know that we have plenty to pick from!
