How to Determine Which Over-Under Axle Flip Kit for 2007 Jayco Jay Flight 31.5 BHDS
Question:
I have a 2007 Jayco Jay Flight 31.5 BHDS 5th wheel. Would like to purchase an axle flip kit. Not sure if I need the 3 or 2 3/8? The axles are Dexter, with part number Dex#: 54870. Thanks for assistance.

In order to determine which over/under conversion kit you'll need you will need to verify the capacity of the axles on your 2007 Jayco Jay Flight 31.5 BHDS, and that your springs are already not positioned over the axles. The best way to confirm your axle's specs is by checking the sticker on the center of the axle, which will give you the capacity. Generally speaking, axles typically have the following diameters depending on the capacity:
Round, 2-3/8 inch diameter = 3,500-lb or 4,400-lb axle
Round 3 inch diameter = 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb axle
The 31.5 BHDS has a GVWR of a little over 8200-lbs, so it's most likely you've got 3500-lbs or 4400-lbs axles, which would be 2-3/8" diameter and use the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00. If you find that you've got 5200-lbs to 7000-lbs rated axles then they would be 3" diameter and you'll want to use the # K71-385-00.
I've linked a review video of these two kits for you to check out, as well.
