Difference Between Tekonsha Plug-In Trailer Brake Controller Adapter 3025-P and 3015-P
Question:
Dear Sir or madam, Ive bought a 2002 2003? GMC Sierra K3500 and id like to install the Tekonsha wiring harness. How can I tell wether i need the P3025 or the P3015 ? The thing is: The VIN-Decoder says 2002 but built-date unknown. Apparently, the 1st registration was in 2003. So the truck might be a late 2002 - 2003 model, but I dont know. If this helps, ive photographed the connector in the drivers side under the dashboard and ive decoded the VIN: UY2 CAMPER and 5TH WHEEL WIRING HARNESS UY7 TRAILER WIRING,7 WIRE,2 LEAD FRONT HARNESS,5 LEAD REAR HARNESS Z82 TRAILERING PACKAGE SPECIALREESE TYPE HITCH Any help will be very much appreciated!

The only difference between the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - GM # 3025-P and the # 3015-P is where the red wire is installed on the connector.
The best way to determine which is the correct harness for your 2002-2003 GMC Sierra K3500 is to use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the port where the harnesses install, which is the second port from the left in the top row as shown in the included picture. You will need to press the brake pedal while sticking the circuit tester in the left bottom pin hole of the port mentioned. If you have power to that pin with the brake pedal pressed, you will need the # 3025-P.
If you do not have power to that pin stick the probe in the top right pin hole of the port mentioned. Power to this pin would mean you need the # 3015-P.
As long as your vehicle is a 2003 model year you will need the # 3015-P.
I included videos for each of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
