Base Plates and Equipment Needed to Flat Tow 2014 Honda CR-V

Question:

I have a 2014 Honda CRV I am getting ready to tow, I own a Roadmaster Falcon 5250 tow bar already, will this baseplate work with it, or do I need the RM-521567-4 base plate?

According to Roadmaster, their # RM-521567-5 direct-connect base plates are compatible with your Falcon 5250 tow bar. Compared to the # RM-521567-4 which requires a crossbar, the # RM-521567-5 makes for a cleaner install that's easier to use.

To complete your flat towing system, you'll need safety cables like # RM-643 if you don't already have them, a taillight wiring harness like part # RM-15247 and a supplemental braking system like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR and possibly a high/low adapter if the receiver height on your motorhome has a height difference of more than 3 inches compared to the 15.75 inch height of the base plates once installed.

Also, in order to prevent running the battery down while towing, you'll want to pull the # 19 fuse (incorrectly mentioned in many versions of the owner's manual, so see the provided diagram). Using a Roadmaster # RM76511 fuse bypass will allow you to bypass the fuse with the flick of a switch mounted in the inside of the passenger cabin. To resume driving normally, flip the switch the other way.

I've linked to some install and product videos for you, as well as to an article that shows how to determine if you need a high/low adapter.
